Rachel Goenka is an acclaimed Indian Restaurateur, Chef, Author and CEO of The Chocolate Spoon Company. Based in Mumbai, she leads an impressive portfolio of hospitality brands, including The Sassy Spoon, a multi-award winning, global dining concept; House of Mandarin, a chic Asian diner; Baraza Bars and Bites, a beach-themed pub; Sassy Teaspoon, a chain of premium patisseries across Mumbai and Pune; Saffron, an Indian cuisine cloud kitchen and The Sassy Cafe, a gourmet cafe kiosk at Jio World Drive Mall.
A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Rachel trained at the prestigious Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland and Le Cordon Bleu in London. She launched her first restaurant, The Sassy Spoon, in 2013, which quickly earned recognition from chef Alain Ducasse as part of the Gout De France movement.
Rachel’s expertise has earned her numerous accolades, including Woman Entrepreneur of the Year by Times Hospitality Icons, Young Restaurateur of the Year at ET Hospitality Awards and 30 Women Entrepreneurs to Watch by The CEO Magazine. Her innovative cookbook, Adventures with Mithai, won the 2020 Gourmand World Cookbook Award for the World's Best Patisserie Book, celebrating her unique approach to reimagining traditional Indian sweets.
Rachel is also a published journalist and has written features for different food & lifestyle magazines and leading newspapers. She was also a guest columnist for ET Hospitality in 2020 and wrote various articles to raise awareness around the restaurant industry's plight.
